Dropped an unspoken feeling ♥

D2YC and SYC

D2yc = dhammaduta development youth camp (mainly to gain knowledge about dhamma)

SYC = sayonara youth camp (mainly to say goodbye to the year 2007 and welcome the very new year 2008)

i have just attended both camps one shot during the holidays..yeah,i admit im freaking tired during syc and that is why i did not enjoy much..But anyways, both of these camps have both different ways of doing things..And i had fun in both camps! XD

venue..
D2YC = uses the Sri Dhamma Hall for all the activities most of the time
SYC = uses the Asoka Hall for all the activities most of the time

timing..
D2YC = nonid to wake up so early and also get to sleep earlier
SYC = sleep late wake up early (cuz the schedule very packed..maybe due to the 5 days 4 nights problem instead of dyc2 having 6 days 5 nights)

committees..
D2YC = most of them already finish high school..most of them already in college..and most of them already working..i dont really know them..but not till the end of the camp..
SYC = looking very dead because not enough sleep..reason given was because they gotta tie water bomb for us..! THANKS GUYS..most of them are still in high school..some in college and a few already working..i know almost 80% of the comm..but i still dont know the new comm except there's this particular girl,Lee Shia(One of the QM & security durin the camp) who was being very friendly and also smiling most of the time.. XD

D2YC : catu vajira (four jewels - Buddha, Dhamma, Sangha and the Participants = FOUR)

SYC : Experience it!! mainly for us to experience new things in that camp ^^

SYC : 7-11th of december 07

Groups...
D2YC : divided into 8 groups..and the group names were taken from the noble eightfold path..
-ditthi (with understanding on the impermanence of all things, that is the Right Understanding)
-sarikappa (with thought that refrain from evil and develops purity, that is the Right Thought)

-vaca (with speech that abstains from slanderous and hurtful words, that is Right Speech)

-kammanta (with action that is born of a pure thought, that is Right Action)

-vayama (with effort that brings fourth the fruits of purity, that is Right Effort)

-ajiva (with livelihood that abstains from unwholesome instances, that is Right Livelihood)

-samadhi (MY GROUP) (with concentration that allows the mind to calm oneself, that is Right Concentration)

-sati (with mindfulness in all things, good and evil thus avoiding evil, which is the Right Mindfulness)

SYC : we were all divided into 6 groups
-abba

-beatles (MY GROUP)

-eagles

Further elaborate about D2YC

Most of the activities we've done have their very own meaning behind them..There's a game organized to test our 5 precepts..which is...

-abstain from killing

-abstain from stealing

-abstain from sexual misconduct

-abstain from deception which is lying

-abstain from taking intoxicating drinks

they practically gave two tasks..one is the hard task and another is the easy task which is to break the precepts..We, being stewpid broke almost all 5 precepts when we realize bout the game on the 4th station..*chiu* till then, we were all very alert on each and every single activity they gave..We learned from our mistake..which is to make the right effort if we wanna gain something..

My friends and i were late on the 1st day for the puja..None of the committees woke us up and they end up blaming us for waking up late..when we asked "why didnt one of you woke us up"...and they replied "you're suppose to wake up yourself"..i dont get how we can wake up ourselves..1st..we dont have any alarm clock..like what people always do, use our handphones as the alternative way..unfortunately, our phones were confiscated and was put under the committees care..so how possibly WE WAKE OURSELVES UP?!?!?! after 10 mins of "lecturing" they realized their mistake and released us to our own groups..*shame shame* zzz

Anyway, from that camp itself i gained lotsa new friends..I met lotsa new people with different personalities..With that, indirectly i get to learn about human's behavior..Some Gossips, Some being over quiet, some not handling the job as a leader but was taken over by one of the member instead, some were crazy over a girl/ a boy..wow..! hehehe...not only the participants, i also get to know the committees from all over malaysia (chewa..exaggerate pulak) but seriously i get to know a friend from Perak (my hometown)..He actually came over all the way from PERAK!!! can u imagine that will power he have in himself? very impressive indeed huh?

In this camp, we were taught to chant the right way..we were also asked to find the errors they have in the booklet they provided..In it, they have the all songs lyrics..and from there, we always have hyms singing session..(I ALWAYS LOVE THIS SESSION when everybody give the best to sing out loud with friends under the dark environment -lights off) Not only that, we were also told about the history of the Late Chief, Ven Dr k Sri Dhammananda Maha Nayaka Thera ..I was touched by his contribution spreading the dhamma all around the world..

During one of the session, the committees actually invited Bro.Wong Tin Song (a very experienced speaker..jokingly teasing his own name by saying himself as TIN KOSONG..and also always use the word "mensiasuikan" haha) to give a talk..He used to come over to Kinrara Metta Buddhist Society (my ex buddhist affiliation) to give lotsa dhamma talks on friday night..But on that day during the camp,Instead of him talking, he made the participants talk by debating..each group were given a topic to debate about..I was one of the debater (my 1st time man..don play play) during that session..debating about "isit right to kill for self defense?" and my group (samadhi) was the opposition..

Talent night was awesome..All groups did their very best and gave the best that night..everything end up well..all acts end up hilarious including the committees' act..The moral of the story for their act is "dont blindly follow buddhism without understanding it"..what they did was there's these two guys travelling around the world..and with that, they bump into many types of cultural at different places..When they got home, they ended up following all the cultural they learned without understanding the purpose of doing it..

We ended our camp with the closing ceremony..the committees were all in formal outfit(they look smart).The respective facilitator of each group presented our certificates..Not forgetting our photo session..It was hilarious when ppl started posing and doing some "breakdance" pose..awesome! :) oh ya, b4 i forget, we were all brought to the lasalle school to get ourselves wet durin the telematch..Something i would not forget is the water balloon part when i got splashed by Wei Wing with a big bucket of water..Hmmph! on the last night, we were asked to hug/shake hand with each other and on the very last day, i would describe it as a VERY WET DAY..Why? because outside raining INSIDE oso raining..the participants started crying on a rainy day..They were all vry reluctant to go home as i am gonna face another camp which is SYC!!! By joining D2YC i gained alot about Dharma because they actually tested us with Dharma Questions..Not only that,they also tested our IQ..What they say was right "IQ is juz a passport for a job but EQ is something will get u promoted" therefore, EQ is much more important than IQ..to me, it's best to have both if possible :)

Taken by one of the committee..This is something we did during the friendship night..We were taken to round the carpark with candles on our hand..One candle each combined, can actually light up the whole place..This is what we call Kalyana Mitra..With friends around, they can actually light up our life :)

How about SYC? here i am to further elaborate about it too! ^^

I was late for this camp and missed out the opening ceremony..Hey hey...not because im not punctual okay? its juz tat i went home after D2YC and get my clothes washed hoping that it will dry A.S.A.P as i wont be having enough clothes during SYC..I was there at 7.15pm if i am not mistaken..1st committee i saw was Sweepy!!!! he lead me to the registration counter to get myself registered..Then, i was given my name-tag..The 1st thing i was curious about to know was my Group Name..BEATLES..there i went and sat with my group members..Suddenly, Vincent Oh Kim Seng came and sat down beside me..Not long after that, Chee Hang sat beside me..Wahh..i felt like a V.I.P!! nah lahh..siao ah! without taking much time, i quickly shift my attention to my SHEN! awh..after 6 days of not messaging him during D2YC, i finally can see him! what a wonderful feeling ^^ Then the next activity we did was the ice-breaking..as usual, every camp will have an ice-breaking session..During the ice-breaking session itself i got myself into trouble for many many times when we played the "musical ball" (don remember what isit called though) game. I was punished a few times not because i had the ball on my hand when the music stopped, but is because the colour of my shirt i wore tat day very "ONG" (lucky)..Red shirt ppl was called out to do silly things at the middle of the circle..i wonder if my shen did it on purpose as he was the Programmer! haha..

Unfortunately, i made him pissed during a particular game..(i dont wanna continue elaborating on this as we promised to drop out and forget about this) At night, i think i slept soundly as i was still very tired after D2YC..tee hee

Next day was the outing..I was worried because i dont have any dark colour T-shirt with me..everything is at home and my dad promised to bring them to me early in the morning..I was praying that my dad will reach on time before we leave the temple for the outing..*poof* I WAS SOOOOOOO HAPPY to see my mom and dad there ON TIME! plus, i admit i kinda miss them..So i went and change into a dark shirt and also into my sports shoe..Off we went for the river trekking..It was awesome although my shoe ROSAK durin that trek..so i was bare footed stepping on big stones..(painful..this is what i call Suffering) Thanks to some of the committee and my friends for helping me throughout the trek..Something i realized was, my shen who always got himself infront of me to held me - making sure i wont fall..so sweet of him *muaxie* and because of that, i need not to worry i will injure myself..even if i do, im sure he will be there for me!

every morning we were asked to wake up to do morning puja..Almost all the time i almost fell asleep as i really couldnt stand sleeping late and waking up early for many days..erm..about 4 hours asleep and awake throughout the time...morning exercise = TORTURE when my muscles are all aching..Food = filled my tummy more than what i need..Good in a way..this is to make sure we dont starve during activities :)

what about Retro night? we were all very busy over the preparation for the coming retro night..it ended up well too!! My group did "the history of beatles" and i was the narrator with Amy! although it was kinda last minute preparation, but i think we did our best..good job guys! hehe..committees performed their act and also did a dance to entertain the parents..to make the hall lively, we, the participants joined the committee for a dance..some of them pulled their parents to join in too..we also had our friendship night..Everybody started hugging each other as we wont be meeting some of them after the camp..I actually injured myself during the Retro night and gotten myself a two blue blacks around my knee..Shen was being caring enough, he quickly massaged for me..although it was very very painful, but i know it was for my own good..

Water Bomb = FUN :)
i simply took the packets of water and started throwing at strangers..tak kira bangsa atau agama (i think almost 99% is the same bangsa or agama haha)..Thanks to shen i ended up getting VERY wet..luckily i was wearing black..muahaha..Moreover, he pulled me over to the committees side and got me into so called "suicide" by them..Many packets of water were threw by them towards me..And den shen pushed me to the packets of water..OMG..everyone threw at me till i couldnt breathe and ended up drinking some of the water..according to them, they washed their legs in that water..ewww!

this camp was also ended up with a closing ceremony..Sadly, they did not print my certificate..and i seriously dont know WHY...after that, pei wun got my certificate printed..

Overall, i think both camps have their own "uniqueness" of organizing and doing things..GOOD JOB! What i got from both camps is not only gaining knowledge or experiences but also getting
- blue blacks on my knee
- bitten by some insect
- pimples
and the list goes on..

I will never miss out these camps next year ...Hoping that i will have enuf money and time to join both camps (",)
